Through our partnership with Hardee Correctional Institution and more recently with the Central Florida Reception Center (CFRC), almost 700 greyhounds have graduated from our greyhound and inmate prison training program. We have the formula for developing successful greyhound and inmate prison training programs and believe we can be successful elsewhere as we are prepared to open additional facilities when necessary. Most of our greyhound grads have the ability to earn their Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification when they graduate. This equates to Therapy Dog Certification. Our greyhound and inmate prison training program is a win-win for the greyhounds, the families who adopt the greyhounds and their inmate trainers who are now responsible for someone other than themselves. The unconditional love of the greyhound helps their inmate trainers focus on what is important in their lives. Our inmate trainer develops more confidence as they develop their dog training skills. They develop job skills and their life becomes more meaningful. Statement of Objectives - Our greyhound and inmate dog training program is intended to: • Help Greyhounds: We currently partner with Bay Area Greyhound Adoption groups which helps sponsor 10 week training sessions to move greyhounds closer to their forever homes. Our training helps place more greyhounds into loving homes and more easily transition greyhounds into their homes. Through obedience training learned while at Hardee Correctional and CFRC, our greyhound grads become outstanding greyhound ambassadors, effectively multiplying the adoption rate. • Help Families Adopting Greyhounds: We provide companion, therapy and service dogs in training. • Help Inmates Do Something Productive, Improve Employment Possibilities and Remain Positive • Trainer Forum Initiative to provide re-entry support
